SUBJECT:
YEAR: 2022 (18 March)

INSPIRATIONS: A US Navy deep sea diver in a Mark V diving suit, a giant North Pacific giant octopus--a large marine cephalopod--belonging to the genus Enteroctopus, the story about this US Navy deep sea diver as told to me by my father-in-law, and my interview with the eighty-five year old naval veteran himself.

FROM BILL'S FACEBOOK: 2022MAY06--My newest illustration, 'Puget Sound Pucker Factor 1000 Yards off Whitbey Island,' is based upon a true story where a US Navy deep sea diver in a Mark V diving suit was ambushed in Puget Sound near Whitbey Island where the Navy tests a lot of underwater combat technology. The year was prior to 1972 but other than that, I don't have the date. The diver survived the ambush attack claiming that the giant Pacific octopus weighed between 800 and 1600 pounds, was as massive as a Volkswagen Beetle, and stretched nearly thirty feet across from tentacle tip to tentacle tip.

LOCATION: Rendered at wife Lori's sanctuary art studio in eastern Central Arizona midway between Phoenix and Tucson.

MODELS: Mark V Deep Sea Diving Suit, Enteroctopus North Pacific Giant Octopus, sediment and crud kicked up into the water column.
