PROJECT GOAL: To submit a number of my drawings to Sondra Marshak, her writing partner Myrna Culbreath, and Mrs. Anna Tornheim Hassan (Marshak's mother) for inclusion in the early collections being edited into the "Star Trek: The New Voyages" commercial Star Trek books. To be the only guy in my high school published in any and all Star Trek fanzines or who had his NAUI SCUBA certification (All three goals were achieved).

MEDIA: This "Sketch-a-Doodle" was sketched in black Higgins India ink, Bic ball point pens in red, blue and black, and Pentel color felt-tip pens with Prisma pencil touch-ups. I used Kodak Ektachrome 100 or 200 ASA Color Slide Film as my format media to deliver my artwork to professional men's magazines such as Paisano Pubilication and Larry Flynt Publications.

Kodak Ektachrome 100 Color Slide Film was known for its beautiful color and like most slide films, has a super fine grain, rich saturated color, and is great for daylight shooting. For being slide film it has decent exposure latitude and does well with portraiture as well as landscapes. I also used it for most of my nude photography. I discovered later that in some cases and as predicated by the lighting, Fugi Film served its function better when photographing naked human skin--or dolphin skin.

MY FASCINATION: The design of the Star Trek: The Original Series DY-Series deep space and pan-solar systems non-warp or Einsteinian speed craft. The furthest out or away they were expected to go were the planets Proxima 3 and Proxima B which were orbiting the red dwarf star Alpha Centauri C (Proxima Centauri). Maybe Alpha Centauri A where Alpha Centauri Prime was known to exist.

MY PERSONAL PROJECT: Being the only guy in my high school (Servite Roman Catholic High School in Anaheim, California) who had his drawings published in the "Star Trek" fanzine newsletters and the early collections being edited into the "Star Trek: The New Voyages" commercial Star Trek books. Because Gene Roddenberry had endorsed those ladies as had the management teams (Schuster Star Trek Conventions and TreKon) and organizers of the Star Trek and Space Con convention circuits; I trusted them with very expensive Xerox copies and Kodak color slides of my artwork. Eventually I had disseminated my hand-drawn Star Trek spaceships up and down both coasts of the US.

LOCATION: Servite Roman Catholic College Prep High School in Anaheim, California.
