1978 Argonaut-GreyWolf Logo on Paper

ARTIST: William Louis ("Bill") McDonald Senior.

COMPANY: Argonaut-GreyWolf.

CLIENT: Me. I intended for this Sketch-a-Doodle render to be used as a sketch rough logo for my new business venture as a commercial and fine artist in 1978.

PURPOSE: A logo for Argonaut-GreyWolf.

YEAR: The rough sketch of this logo was completed in Ernesto Guerrero's Art Room at Dana Hills High School before being given a final Higgins black India ink quill redo in 1981. I needed it for a business card with letterheads, envelopes, windbreaker jackets and ball caps.

MEDIA: Non-photo blue Prisma pencils and graphite #2 pencils. Later I inked it over completely, comic book-style with Higgins black India ink.

INSPIRATION: "California Killer Weed"--Kelp, along with a Poseidon/Neptune trident, and a hammerhead shark (family Sphyrnidae, perhaps a young Sphyrna mokarran great hammerhead) who probably needs to be redrawn. The system of the "Atlantean 'A'-blades" incorporated into the trident was incorporated by me in 1978. This first major ink-over was completed in 1981.

LOCATION: This rough sketch was completed in the Art Room at Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, California, USA.
