GOLIATH Book Cover Art

From my 2002 drawing, one of Steve Alten's associates then rendered this book cover image for the trade paperback version to follow the original hardcover book.

The Goliath herself was designed by me based upon exactly what New York Times Bestselling Author Steve Alten had envisioned. The submarine's overall design is inspired by the 800 lb. six-foot Dasyatis sabina Atlantic stingray, elements of the old Harper Goff Nautilus submarine from the movie "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," and the B2 stealth bomber.

was a gigantic 600 foot "Boomer" missile submarine resembling a cross between an underwater monstrous winged stealth bomber and a stingray sporting five nuclear hydro-jet engines whose designs were stolen by a mad scientist psychopath and built for him by the Communist Chinese to use for their purposes. The submarine sported an operational quasi Artificial Intelligence system which functioned as a combination of silicon and carbon-based memory components utilizing molecular memory maintained as Deoxyribonuclaic Acid (DNA) strands in specific matrices and combinations. Her AI answered to the name "SORCERESS."

Unbeknownst to Covah and the Goliath crew, the Goliath's biochemical computer brain has become self-aware -- and it's developing its own agenda.

The Goliath: A nuclear submarine powered by its five jet-pump propulsors and hydrodynamically shaped to be virtually undetectable under water, the sub has one more feature that separates it from all other vessels on the open seas: SORCERESS -its biochemical computer brain. She's a huge submarine with a biological brain literally takes on the entire world. Bigger, faster, stealthier and apocalyptic in her mission.

It was easy: I submitted my original render completed in Mesa, Arizona and a JPEG to Steve Alten in West Palm Beach, Florida by FED-EX, and an East Coast Artist did his version on his computer.
