THE PROJECT'S BACKSTORY: United States Army Counter-Intelligence Corps Colonel/Master Sergeant/Special Agent Frank Kaufmann described the wreckage of this aerowing command module spacecraft to Dr. and Major Kevin D. Randle USAF (Retired), Investigative Author Donald R. Schmitt, and myself at a variety of times before he died. He was the team leader who directed the recovery the wreckage with the atom bomb base' Provost Marshal Major Edwin Easley 32 miles north of the town's city limits around 0500 in the morning on the 5th of July 1947.

Kaufmann relayed how he had been given a direct order from his two bosses at U.S. Army Headquarters in Washington D.C., General Clements McMullin and General Martin F. Scanlon, to ride a radar set for three days, and to log while observing on radar the in-flight behaviors, approximate speeds, altitudes and to describe the performance envelopes of these postwar "Bogies."

For three days before the lightning bolt that brought down the vehicle in the last minute before midnight on the 4TH of July, it and others like it buzzed all of the major atom bomb facilities around New Mexico. They spooked overflights of P-51 Mustangs attempting to maintain air superiority over Alamogordo, Kirtland, Albuquerque, Sandia and Roswell.
