FREELANCE MAGAZINE ILLUSTRATIONS TO INCLUDE COVERS: In the Late Spring of 1992, at Paranormal Researcher Dr. Barry Taff's request, Vicki Cooper-Ecker, formerly a reporter for the LA Times, and Sherry Stark who was an employed television producer at NBC hired me on a freelance basis to regularly illustrate the original (Founded by these two) version of UFO Magazine which was bought out by book author William J. ("Bill") Birnes and his wife over six years later in 1998.
All drawings were inspired by UFO crash witness claims from across the international UFO community plus a number of statements from military veterans and retirees. Military aviators from all five services as well as commercial and law enforcement pilots were sought out and obtained.
Back in the last days of the old cutting and pasting of graphics on negative photo gels in order to create pages for printing, and in the first days of doing the same by scanning the elements into a computer program, Vicki Cooper before she became Vicki Ecker, Don Ecker, and Sherry Stark had to assemble their magazine elements by hand. These images are how Volume 3 of 1993 came together to not only hype the much-anticipated Roswell movie, but the whole upcoming fiftieth anniversary.
Lots of people have seen Bill Birnes doing his fifteen second sound bites on UFO and Ancient Aliens TV shows. He's always wearing that goofy ball cap and aviator sun glasses. I'll bet he cannot land a plane to save his life. I know I can.
